Noreen Herzfeld is the Director of the Benedictine Spirituality and Ecotheology Program at St. John’s School of Theology and Seminary and a Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Philosophical and Religious Studies in Koper, Slovenia.

She is the author of several books exploring artificial intelligence, technology, religion, and what it means to be human, including The Artifice of Intelligence (2023), In Our Image (2002), and Technology and Religion (2009).

Herzfeld also serves on the AI Research Group for the Vatican’s Centre for Digital Culture and co-wrote and edited Encountering AI: Ethical and Anthropological Explorations (2024). 

 

Her talk, “Artificial Intelligence and the Environment,” will explore the intersection of AI, technology, and our changing world.
