Meet our Anchor Groups
FaCT Anchors are faith communities that serve as hubs for organizing and for carrying out the FaCT mission in close cooperation, sharing ideas, programs, and resources.
Community of
St. Peter
The Community of Saint Peter, located in Cleveland's Midtown neighborhood, serves members from five counties. They have a vibrant environmental ministry that includes recycling, composting, advocacy, and climate change education. Several members have been active participants in FaCT for a number of years.
East Shore Unitarian
Universalist - Kirtland
East Shore UU is where the founding meeting of FaCT occurred in 2011. East Shore's Social Justice Council is FaCT's Anchor at East Shore. The Council includes many educational and action-oriented programs relating to care of the environment, especially issues relating to climate change. Several East Shore members have been active in FaCT for a decade or more.
West Shore UU in Rocky River
West Shore FaCT promotes clean air, clean water, healthy soil, and a quick, safe transition to renewable energy sources and just, sustainable living. The Anchor Group is a Task Force of WSUUC and is part of the West Shore Justice & Outreach Council. West Shore FaCT creates opportunities for education, advocacy, and action at West Shore UUC and within the larger community.
Catholic Community of Athens
The Catholic Community of Athens has participated in ecumenical efforts and partnerships with churches and community organizations which share their vision for a sustainable future. A Laudato Si circle meets monthly to pray, plan, and implement actions consistent with the encyclical's content, and to gain inspiration from the work of others in our country and around the world.
First UU Society of Marietta
First UU Society of Marietta has been confronting the problem of frack waste injection wells in communities throughout Washington County. The FSUUM congregation has been instrumental in pioneering our frack waste/injection well education program, bringing information about this issue to college student audiences through FaCT's campus intern program.
Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cleveland - Shaker Heights
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cleveland, located in Shaker Heights, serves congregants in eastern Cuyahoga county and surrounding areas. UUCC has a strong social justice program that includes environmental justice. They host many film showings and in-person presentations on environmental issues and are regularly represented in FaCT Anchor Committee meetings.
