JUST IN: Conserve Ohio reaches 130,000 signatures

Conserve Ohio has obtained 130,000 signatures on their initiative petition to place a constitutional amendment on the 2027 ballot to limit the construction of any new data centers in the state to facilities consuming less than 25 megawatts of electric power.  This would thus prohibit the construction of hyperscale data centers that use several hundred upto 800 or more megawatts of power. The 130,000 signatures is 16,000 more than required, but circulators of petitions always aim to go way over the top as state inspection usually disqualifies some signatures for various reasons.

Conserve Ohio has also helped people in ten local communities organize efforts to place similar, local level data center ban proposals on this year’s November 3rd General Election ballot.
